INVOLVE STUDENTS IN ASSESSSMENTS

 

Task Completion. Provide students with the learning target and the criteria for successful task completion.

Make sure that assignments are assigned specific objective- check in to see if this is happening.

Template and Set-ups

  • Identify rubrics pictures from Mary's wall with colors that are cut

  • Peer assessments-Partner with another student, change papers, receive rubric. And exchange scored sheet. They have to explain tot he peer why they gave them the grade

  • Introduce a diagnostic rubric- compares the child to themselves so you are pusing their growth (corrlate to curren exam environemnt) Donna has an example of this from working with Stephanie. (use and confuse)

Activities

  • Share the target and exemplars/anchor papers as well as weak samples of student work.

  • Evaluate student work with performance criteria & rubrics.

Provide students with effective, specific oral and written feedback that guides improved performance. (observable)

Activity

Template and Set-ups

Use a variety of methods to gather information to formatively assess students’ knowledge, e.g.: Entry Cards, Word Splash, K-W-L, Anticipation Guide, Brainstorming, Webbing, ungraded pretests designed to preview learning target(s), etc.

 

Effective Feedback.  Provide Multiple Opportunities to use Effective Feedback to revise and Resubmit Work for Evaluation Against the Standards

Understand what editing and revision processes are in place

Data Implications and needs of students

Confer with students individually to provide feedback to improve performance.  Allow students to revise work based on teacher feedback.

Activity

Guide improvement through scaffolding attainable steps toward the goal.

Give children surveys asking about instruction performance. What could I have done better? What would you have liked to of learned.

Collect quarterly to check in and analyze against previous year. Look up a template that can be created in Vitae.

  • Ask students for feedback on the effectiveness of instruction.

  • Ask students to indicate the learning activities that are effective in helping them to learn.

  • Use interviews, surveys, questionnaires, and Exit Cards to gather feedback from students about instruction."
